Art of Publishing Workshop: About

Date: April 17, 2009

  • Time: 8:30am-5:30pm

  • Location: Goizueta Business School, Room 130 (Boynton Auditorium)

  • Completing a research project is an important step toward publishing, but much more is required before an article is accepted by a journal. Many skills such as journal selection, handling referees and editors, and strategies for quality vs. time-to-publish tradeoffs are never taught in graduate school. Rookies often learn the unspoken rules from their own mistakes. With this workshop, we aim to explore many of these issues in order to help the development of junior faculty and graduate students. Editors from high-ranking social science journals as well as Emory faculty who serve as editors will speak on these issues and more in a series of 25 minute presentations and two hour-long roundtable discussions.
